Elements and Principles of Art

Picture #1: Texture: deals with the sense of touch and can be visual or actual.

This picture is a basketball I had laying around the house.

Picture #2: Color- there must be light in order to see color because it is made of color. There are three properties to color: Hue which is the name, Value which is the lightness and darkness, and Intensity which is the purity of the hue.

This is a picture of a gift bag.

Picture #3: Line- any mark that has length and width and shows movement.

This is a picture of the floor in On Track Nutrition.

Picture #4: Pattern/ Repetition- uses different elements throughout, but in a repeating manner. It also creates visual excitement.

This is a picture of the curtains in my bedroom.

Picture #5: Contrast- difference in colors, shapes, textures, and other elements. Contrast also creates excitement.

This is a picture of a pillow my grandmother made me.
